I quickly learned how to use the laser range finder for measurements. It’s small enough to fit comfortably in one hand. It includes a lanyard that I use to keep it secure on my belt. It turns on when I press and hold the only round button for about one second. I don’t have to deal with confusing menus or startup delays.

For basic distance readings, I just press the round key once to emit the laser and again to lock the measurement. It's fast, easy and accurate: I checked with a tape measure and I get indeed the same measurement. The LCD screen lights up clearly, even in dim hallways, and shows the result in meters by default. To switch it to feet, I have to access the settings menu by holding the round button for five seconds while the unit is off. Then I press the button shortly to cycle through values. I press and hold the button one second to save and cycle through other settings.

The continuous measurement mode is useful when I’m checking ceiling heights or aligning shelves. I hold the round key for 1.5 seconds, and the display updates in real time as I move the device. Accuracy can slightly vary depending on lighting conditions according to the manual.

I can use the area and volume functions when estimating paint coverage for a closet. I took two length measurements in sequence, and the device automatically calculated square footage. Pythagorean mode works for measuring across a corner where I can’t get a straight line: I computed the hypotenuse after I input the two adjacent sides.

The built-in angle sensor lets me calculate height indirectly. I point the laser at the base of a wall, then the top, and it gave me vertical height.

The measurement tool has a built-in rechargeable battery. I don’t know the exact battery life but I have been using it for weeks without recharging. But it uses a micro USB port, not a USB-C one, for charging.

On the packaging I see it’s made in China, weighs about an ounce and has an aluminum alloy casing. And it takes me much less time than using a tape measure.

This ATuMan compact laser measure is a fantastic tool and has been a huge time-saver for quick measurements around the house. It’s fast, accurate, and very easy to use—just press one button and you get the result instantly. The measurements have been consistent for me, and the ±1/16" accuracy feels reliable.

The backlit screen is clear and easy to read, and the different modes (distance, area, volume, Pythagorean) add a lot of functionality for DIY projects, furniture planning, and room measuring. Charging is simple, and the battery lasts a long time.
